Ron,
I use the spin-on adapter with the 90 degree adapter so I can use the big
Ford/Chrysler filter, PF2, and carry about a pint more oil in the system plus the
increased filter capacity of the larger filter. Most complaints about the 90
degree adapter is the mess of changing the filter. I've solved this by using
two small size "waste basket" bags, one inside the other. Place them over
the partially loosened filter and remove the filter through the bag. Let the
fitter go to the bottom of the bags and keep the bag in place till most of the
oil has drained out of the mount (about 10 minutes). Remove the bags with the
filter inside and immediately install a new filter. If you place a small rag
underneath the filter before you start this procedure you will not have any
spills in your nice engine compartment. Also the filter adapter does allow for
the use of a smaller filter (about the same size as the PF4) mounted in the
vertical position.
I know the ins and outs of this adapter since I am the only producer of it
and supply them to the venders. I also produce many other items sold by our
friendly venders.
