Just a quick chime-in. I too have a HobbyAir respirator. I bought it probably 12 years ago and it only gets used sporadically, but when it does, boy does it kick ass. I've lent it to friends doing paint work and they marvel about how much nicer it is to paint with too. On modern catalyzed paint (hardened enamel, urethane, polyurethane, etc.) you really don't have a choice (unless you are an idiot or would like to become one), but these supplied air systems make shooting even non-catalyzed (charcoal mask safe) paints much nicer. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
