Country Classic Cars http://countryclassiccars.com/ is at Exit 41
(Staunton, IL) on I-55 and just a mile or two from IL Rte 4. He usually has
between 4 to 10 Corvairs on his lot. I've been told he has about 500 cars
in total. They are in varying states of repair/disrepair and range from
pretty nice to crusher material. He keeps the nicer one's indoors in a
couple of concrete floor pole barns but there are 100's of them outside
lined up at the I-55 barrier fence.
He has had some of the 'vairs a long time. There's a orange/red Rampside
that's been there for at least 2-3 years... rusted out so bad and missing so
many parts that it's not even a good parts vehicle... price is somewhere
north of $300... should be sold for scrap and may have been in the past
couple months given the high scrap prices. Not sure about his pricing on
other cars... I know he does sell some so can't say that's he's overpriced
on everything... and besides, he seems like a real nice guy.
And it's still an enjoyable $1 tour if you happen to be in the area. You
would also see it if you were to take Historic Route 66 from Chicago to St.
Louis.
