Just received the latest copy of Old Cars Weekly News and was surprised to
see photo (small) of Corvair on the cover. Then I went inside and found a full
page ad of Haggerty Insurance with a large photo of a Corvair along with the
headline "Unsafe at any Speed." In the accompanying text, they state: "Forty
years ago, it was an accident waiting to happen."
At least the headline is credited to New York Courier. But the text is not
credited to anyone else so it appears it is their own opinion. I've never seen
them use this approach on any other of their "Classic" cars they insure. I
realize it is meant to attract attention to their ad. It got mine!
Since I have both of my Corvairs insured with Haggerty, they will very
shortly receive an unhappy opinion from a disgusted policyholder. Maybe some of you
are also insured with them.
The Nader mistaken myth is alive and well in some minds.
