<VV> air condition question

Were it me, I'd replace the compressor with a Sanden.  Rusty Rose had (or
maybe has) what you need, but his website (www.rustyonline,com) seems to be
down or gone.  In any event, there are other sources.

 I'm in the process of resurrecting a '66 4 dr that I have had in dry
storage for 20 years. The car came with an aftermarket A/C. A really
good engineering job of installing it. It took 4 hours to remove the
York compressor and all the supporting brackets. (big mouse nest under
the top shroud, don't cha know!) Now that it is out, and resealed, I
believe that I should replace the pump with an original Corvair unit in
the correct position. The York was on the left side behind the
alternator.

 

 It is a 140, but I have a 140 mount and only need the compressor and a
bit more hardware. I assume when I bring it to an A/C specialist to
complete the engine compartment plumbing; it should be converted to the
134 refrigerant. I intend to leave the under dash unit and the
evaporator which looks similar like a stock '66.

 

 Anybody out there have experience with this situation??

 

Getting all the information is most of the solution.
