car; its just harder to fix in a front steer because of the location of the
steering arms. As for adjusting Ackerman by moving the position of the
steering mechanism fore and aft, that may have an affect on other steering
behavior, but it won't change the Ackerman angle. That angle is defined by
the relationship between the tie rod end attachment point on the sterring
arm, the lower ball joint and the wheel base of the vehicle.
And that is why changing the length of the steering arm - from the center
pivot point to the tie-rod hole changes the Ackerman angle. The vertical
location of the steering arm tip and the location of the relay rod determine
the amount of bump steer and the change in bump steer as the suspension goes
through it's travel.
