[V8Vairs] Optimal Ratio for a Crown Conversion?

It depends on how the 283 is built. If the engine is built for torque then a 3.08 would work. I'm not sure how the engine was built but the comprimise would be a 3.27 and probably the best all around gear for you.
Unless someone wants to part with a 3.08 it might be sort of hard to come by.
Keep in mind everyone that this is an aluminum block 283 that was recently rebuilt.

Subject: [V8Vairs] Optimal Ratio for a Crown Conversion?
I am curious about which rear end ratio Crown owners have and what ratio they
hink might be ideal. I have a 283 cu. in Chevy with a 3:55 and 25.1 inch
iameter rear tires. Things seem a little "busy."
Might a 3:27 might be a better choice? Does anybody have a 3.08? Is it too
all? (especially for a relatively small, although very healthy, V-8)
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Paul
