This event was very well attended, and not once did I hear a negative comment out of anyone's mouth about this year's venue, or schedule of events. In fact, it was just the opposite, rave reviews from the attendees.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">Next, and not knowing who coined the term "traditionalists", I'll say that this "regional event" is going to continue to evolve, year over year, honoring the traditions of the past (Registration and Meet & Greet on Friday, Car Show and Banquet on Saturday, and head for home on Sunday), while also incorporating new events and opportunities to ensure folks enjoy themselves and want to return year after year. To say that we (speaking as a member of the RMC) were not disappointed in the level of participation from the CNM group, would be a falsity. But, we were not ecstatic with the overall attendance of the PPCC membership either. That being said, our goal in putting on this year's event was for every person who did take the opportunity to attend, for them to have an absolutely wonderful weekend, and I believe that we met that goal in spades, if you speak to the folks who were there, or gave of their time to put it together and make is a success.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">Since you brought it up, again, I'll touch on last year's Taos Tri-State, just a bit. To use the word "disgusted" is just harsh, wording, and frankly uncalled for. Considering that it is volunteers who put on the yearly event, giving of their time and energy, I have nothing but praise for those who put it together last year. Now, was the hotel great, NO. Was the banquet appropriately staffed, and the meals delivered hot and in a timely manner, NO. Did the car show parade go off as planned, NO. Did the T-Shirt receive the level of quality control we'd expect (the event shirt had an incorrect date on it), NO, no it didn't. But, let's not forget (and Patricia made sure she reminded us all a couple months ago), the PPCC had a spelling error on our Montrose event shirt, in the way we spelled "Manitou Springs", even after 4 people reviewed the design and the final proof. Guess we'll have to live that down, as long as there is one person out there who wants to dwell on the negative, instead of applaud the effort and find humor in the mistakes that humans sometimes make. Overall, my family and I had a great time in Taos, and look forward to the next time the CNM folks put together an event, as I am also a member of that club as well.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">Going forward, into Ouray, you, and everyone else can, and should, expect changes to the Tri-State format, from the way the event is advertised, to how it's organized, and how it is funded. I volunteered to run the Ouray event, because I want us to put on a quality event for the folks in attendance, and I believe that I have a lot to offer in that planning process. Based off of what I saw this year, I can tell you, we will not lose money on meals, or t-shirts, because folks don't show up, after saying they'd be there. We will address the perceived shortfalls of the previous year's events honestly, and with good humor, as we plan for Ouray. And, if that leaves some folks with their panties in a bunch, then so be it, the event will go on without them, and the folks in attendance will still have a great time.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">I'll close my thoughts with the following; the Tri-State started back in '76 because folks did not want to travel to Philly for the national convention. In doing so, they unknowingly, and unintentionally, created a regional event which continues to grow, and attract new folks every year. In Crested Butte, we had folks not only from the three sponsoring clubs (RMC, PPCC, CNM), but folks came in from Kansas, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Washington, and Oklahoma as well. In Ouray, I expect we'll see folks from California, Nevada, and Missouri as well. </p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">A reminder, no one Club today owns "The Tri-State", and there is no committee of consensus between the three clubs on how schedules, events, or awards are standardized or selected. Any of the three club's could drop out of the hosting rotation, if they wanted to, or their membership could simply just choose not participate, if they decided that's the way they want to express their displeasure with the organization of the event. It's a free country, and that's fine, but no one should take offense when the void is filled by another group, who may be more enthusiastic about the future of the event. I know I am, and I'm happy to say th<span style="font-size:12pt">at I was surrounded by a lot of folks in Crested Butte who felt the same way.</span></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><span style="font-size:12pt"><br clear="none"></span></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">As to the event statistics, those numbers were shared with the event coordinator, Rick Beets, after the event was completed, and all of the key awards, to include the Boydston Award, were reported out in the RMC newsletter, the Denvair News, last week. Passive aggressive comments like "Hopefully this information will be in someone’s newsletter" don't serve any purpose, other than to ruffle feathers. Not helpful to the discussion, so if you don't want to read about the event after the fact, then attend it in person next time, so you have all of the information first hand.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">Hope that helps to frame the event for you, and anyone else concerned.</p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333"><br clear="none"></p><p style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;color:#333333">My family and I had a GREAT time!
