There is a tech tip somewhere about using a spare yoke to act as a puller. 
  I will take a look and see if I can find it.

Greg:

Regarding getting the yoke off the end of an early model axle, I would
begin by soaking it in liquid wrench or blaster, etc.  A shop press
should do this easily.  I don't know if Darrin has one???  The next best
thing would be a heavy gear puller.  A little heat from a propane torch
would also help.
