[FC] electrical gremlin

I meant to mention this earlier but the place to start with any early or FC that has tail light issues of any kind start with the socket contact to the housing. There was a tech tip a long time ago to remove the tail light assembly then set the backside loosely in the vise making sure that the small flange of the socket is on the corner of the vise jaws. You then take a flat punch and tap on the flange of the socket, do this in three or four places to re-establish the ground contact.

This is generally about 80% of all light problems in the rear.

Hi Tim,

I haven't seen a specific answer, but if you have good brake lights, then the grounds and power feed to the back is ok. If it's just the turn signals that are having this problem, the I'd start with the turn signal switch.

When turning to the left, the initial signal is bright and then dims until the bulb's filament is only seen to be orange-yellow when the red lens is removed. I removed the rear lens and checked the ground by using copper wire on a known clean frame contact.Next I assume I should look under the dash at that little switch box which is connected to the lever by a cable? right?Tim 61 Rampy 140 4 spd.
