[FC] Ramped just won't move faster than a few miles an hour

Engine starts and runs fine but put in into PowerGlide either low or drive and it only moves at a few miles per hour.  I have oil pressure on engine and PowerGlide seems to have fluid and trans not running hot (I have a temp gauge on it), BUT no matter what I do, it moves forward at only a few miles per hour.  I limped it back into my driveway, but any ideas?  Power Glide dead?  Some coupling broke?   Any help appreciated.
