[FC] "one wire" alternators

I run internal regulated alternators on all of my Corvairs. There is a
difference between "one wire" and internal regulated. The one wire is a module
(resistor) plugged on the regulator terminals to "self excite" the
alternator. Mine are all in the 100amp + range of capability. I did use 2 one wire
units on my boat that were 140 amp (about max for that case) that did a
great job of maintaining a lot of batteries.
My rampy and coupe have had no issues , running 50 watt ham radios ,
heaters (gas on rampy , so 2 blower motors) aircraft landing high beams etc.
They keep up much better than generators at low RPM's.
They seem bulletproof so far.
That is MY history, for at least since the 70's. Very simple , neat
conversion.
One thing , you need to put about 2 ft of wire , or a low ohm resistor ,
between the regulator terminals , and the field wire to the wire going to the
alt light on the dash (with out looking, blue wire from the regulator?) .
If the wire is too short , you have to do a quick rev up to start charging
after starting the motor. no biggie.
