[FC] 64 Rampside Automatic Trans Question

  I just bought a 64 Rampside with an automatic trans. I've been checking it for 
missing parts so I can start gathering them to make it complete. It has the 
accelerator cable going up to the carb crossover shaft but has nothing going to 
the lever on the side of the trans (lever has no external attachments). Clark"s 
shows the link from cross shaft to the trans for 61 -63 FCs only (used). Doesn't 
that lever actuate the kick down to low gear under heavy acceleration?  I'm new 
to FC automatics so please be kind. Thanks in advance.
