[FC] cool the coil

Yes, I was speaking of those two flaps on the topside, under the coil and oil
cooler. Some have flaps that you can bend shut. Others are just an opening. I
feel that bending them shut is the caveman's approach. Just cut a piece of
sheetmetal and screw it into the shroud duct. Make sure the screw does not
interfere with the themostat doors opening fully. AC and turbo cars came with a
summer/winter plates for this very purpose. It'll help keep that coil cool and
you engine will likely run cooler too from the lack of a heat feedback loop.

I did not see Andrew's response, but I assume he is referring to the
"summer - winter" opening in the engine compartment (top side of the
shrouding - above the damper doors). I think these are "bend to adjust" on
EMs. I also seem to recall (perhaps mistakenly) that SOME EMs have two of
them - one on each side.
If this is a summer only car, they should be closed and left that way. If
winter driven (doubtful), they should be open in winter to prevent carb
icing.
Regarding - cooling the coil - some folks mount the coil on the rear frame
rail rather than the engine. I suppose that helps (probably does), but
can't say for certain.
