Having looked at the picture and realizing it did not look unfamiliar, I
believe this is likely. I may have one somewhere in the "collection",
but it is not practical to look for it specifically. Figure 6A-112 in
the 61 Shop Manual may also suggest this. The pic in my copy is Very
Dark, but that cross pipe looks very narrow, too narrow to have the
"silencer" on it, and no indication of the ends of the silencer section
-- also note the choke cables. Also, it may not be a "silencer" as much
as a modification to combat carb icing by moving the air intake further
away from the fan inlet. Perhaps in concert with the trapezoidal "air
baffle" piece by the carbs. The outline drawing in Fig 2-33 (wagon)
appears to also show this unshielded cross tube with the center
"cut-out", as does Fig 2-34 (FC).
So, my question is, "Should the 'silencer / anti-icer' go to the front
or the rear?" Perhaps it only fits one way ...
