[FC] Wheel back Space - Z28

I've never seen the center broken out of an aluminum wheel and I've seen plenty of broken ones from impacts that also would have destroyed a steel wheel. I've broken at least three aluminum wheels in my life and no steel wheel would have survived either. Two of the wheels broke the lip off from a sideways impact with a curb and still held air to get home. One hit a square edged chunk of concrete (slab hidden in some tall grass at 60+mph) and broke a fist sized piece out of it. The vehicle didn't fare much better than the wheel.
Have you tried some of those steel Z-28 wheels on the front? Do the 2nd gen wheels have a different backspace than the 3rd gen? I thought they were the same.
I don't like steel wheels because they drive poorly compared to aluminum. The steel is too flexy for me.

Wrong Z28 wheel for clearance -- these clear the tie rods just fine, no
"grinding", 15x7: http://www.nastyz28.com/faq/wheel/z28wheel.html
If you ever had a set of "mag" wheels with the centers broken out of
them, one would appreciate real steel wheels, especially if you load
anything in your FC.
