[FC] spare tire again

I have a Rampy with an original "full size" tire for a spare in the stock location behind the bench seat. The truck had no spare when i bought it but there was this big wingnut and large flat washer screwed into the sheet metal mounting bracket. Problem is that when i use the large washer there are not enough threads to start the large wingnut, I wound up holding the tire there sorta hanging on the wingnut alone. Were these parts correct for this truck? 
Also I have no wrench for this truck, is the wrench the same as the one for the passenger car?
