Hi Mike,
The trip back from the club meeting Saturday and up to Bill's today
was uneventful, well at least in terms of any untoward event.
Frank and Ray's arrival was the highlight of the meeting Saturday. We
took a break from our planning for the 2010 Vair Fair and welcomed our
guests. Frank reported the car ran nicely up from Fredericksburg,
Va. It is, BTW, a nice solid car, I can see why the family likes it
so much. The stripes are a real '60s touch, and the car has air and a
PG. Nice cruiser.
After the meeting I drove home and our visiting car got to hang out
with the family Corvairs overnight. This morning I checked the oil
(ok) and PG (a skosh low), so topped off the trans, which got rid of
the flare in right hand turns Frank had reported. Ellie followed me
as we purred up to Bill Elliott's house in Frederick, Md (the two
cities are most likely named after different Freds) and we arrived a
little after noon today. Bill and MaryAnn gave us a nice tour of
their place and we chatted about events for next year, then we did the
"handing off of keys" and headed home.
As we know, you don't drive a Corvair without getting noticed, the
highlights were the guy at the 7-11 who walked over to check out the
car "just like the one he learned to drive on", and the Viper driver
who pulled up alongside and gave a thumbs up.
All in all, a great weekend!
