[FC] looking for a good hinge set up for the engine cover

I am tired of sliding the cover back and forth. I have seen where a 
piano hinge has been used on the inside and an early car engine cover 
strut to hold it in place.  I want to be sure the cover closes flush 
back in its groove and not sit up off the surrounding floor.  Has anyone 
built the perfect system?  Pictures would be helpful.
