[FC] the most basic question

 I think it was the Gen light flashing/flickering. The lights should be Gen/Fan; Temp/Press. If they are in the correct holes then it cannot be the oil pressure. Although do you know for sure that the lights are in the correct holes?

May I suggest replacing the oil pressure sending unit? That solved my  
roblem when I first bought my Corvan. A worn out oil pressure  
ending unit could be giving a false reading at idle.

 I've got Clark's belts on all my vairs, with no-problems.
 How old is the belt on it now? Or how many miles?
 an aged belt may develop a glaze to it that could make it slip.

 Reason...I get a flickering of the gen/fan light when driving,

 is well.
 I feel the fan belt is slipping at times, but OK at others. This

 belt is a Clark's belt, and I have never had this flickering indicator
 light problem before in 14 years.
