[FC] ignition switch

We had a left over, sort of generic Chevy switch that was for our 1961
Impala, that I installed in our 1963 Monza, it was a perfect fit with the lock and
the trim bezel. The connections may have been a little different, and the
wiring harness may not fit on a generic Chevy switch; but our Monza had been
ravaged by tweakers, and I had to crimp on my own terminals on the wires anyway.
That being said, in a pinch you might be able to go to your LAPS (local auto
parts store) and get a generic Chevy switch that will work just fine, for
about $10-15.

That about sums it up below.
Disconnect the battery, turn the key all the way to lock, insert a
pin in the hole in the front and continue to turn CCW and the whole
tumbler will slide right out in your hand. Remove the switch, this is
where disconnecting the battery comes in, and then install the new
switch, connect the connector and then insert the tumbler with the key
at the same point thatit came out and turn CW. That should be all there
is to change the ignition switch. OH!!!! Reconnect the battery.

Subject: [FC] ignition switch
My ignition switch has stopped snapping back to the run position from
the
starter position. Will a new
switch from Clarks, or whoever, restore the function? I assume the
spring that
returns the switch to run is in
that assembly and I simply need to put my old keyway into a new
switch
assembly. Am I correct? Fred Darvill
