[FC] what is that hole on the fuel pump end of the top cover?

Hi all!

All the shrouds have been scrapped and scrubbed and painted, now I am scrapping all the crap off the rest of the engine.

What is that hole at the fuel pump end of the cover, the cover that holds the fan bearing/shaft?

It was chock full of crud so I stirred it up with the vacume hose next to it.

Now I am wondering if I might have knocked some dirt into the engine............????????????
