[FC] PCV

I have to add that not all PCV valves are made the same. The Corvair PCV was designed to lay down others are made to stand upright on one end. Also different engines have different vacuum requirments. SO, not just any PCV valve will work everywhere. At least properly. The over all weight has little to do with the operation. The original PCV valves were pretty heavy overall and I have some newer ones that are pretty light with the same part number.
The 1963 was the only year that had a PCV valve unless the car had AC through 1965.

The preferred PCV valve would be a AC CV584C FOR THE 1963-65 (all that were PCV
equipped) according to my PCV Specification Chart by AC dated 3/72. Other years
used different valves according to this chart. Paul in CT

Greetings and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I got word weeks ago that the smell in my heat that I got under load was
perhaps a faulty PCV valve. I finally got to taking it out and inspecting it
yesterday. Long story short, I went to the auto parts store and found three or
four that LOOKED like the valve I took out. None of them had the overall mass of
the "original." (Due to cheaper new stuff, I assume).
I am wondering what the difference between these valves might have been. The
auto parts guys could not properly cross reference it to Corvair, so I picked
one and brought it along. It is now installed, but as yet untested.
What PCV valve is recommended? Fram? NAPa?
Thanks. See you down the FC trail...
Ben
