I looked at what is billed as a '61 greenbrier last night. The seller has it
for $500, and he picked it up free a few months ago. He has to get rid of it,
as they are selling the house he's in now. I would hate to see it go to the
scrapyard. It's in pretty decent shape with just a few rust spots on the
lower front doors, and no dents anywhere. However, the top is rusted through near
the gutter for about 5' on the drivers side. The motor is a late model with
the mag fan and an alternator. The engine door has the inset license plate
spot, which I think means it's a '64 or '65? The interior is good, all the
panels are there and none are ripped. It was originally a blue/turquoise color
oxidized), and the interior panels are that same color. The front seat is good,
and is original. It isn't running at the moment, it needs plugs and a
battery, and maybe the engine wiring harness finished (he bought a new one). There
is a lot of oil in the engine compartment, I don't know if it's from a bad
fan bearing or if it happened when someone tried to turn it over with the
sparkplugs removed; the motor turns freely by hand. It is also missing the keys,
some external door handles, the mirrors, and the powerglide shift lever. Other
than the rust through on the top, it's in very good shape. I would take it,
but we're out of room for new projects! I posted this here thinking that
maybe someone would want to take on a project for cheap.
