[FC] Granny Transmission

How can I tell with the drive train installed if I have a granny transmission.  On the GB I just bought first seems to be really low.  Shifting from first to second seems to have a normal spacing, but shifting from second to third there is a huge difference. When shifting when I think I should the engine drops almost completely out of the torque band.  Third to fourth is spaced about right.  Also I can't get to the shift point indicated on the spedo in first.  The van is a 63 and has a 65 110 in it.
