[FC] LED taillights

I notice it more with the really large lights, as on current
Cadillacs. The "snap-on" effect is not just annoying, it's also a
feature. It's very well documented from tests of the '70s and '80s that
the brightness ramp curve of brake lights and the maximum intensity both
decreased reaction time of "following driver" test subjects in blind
tests. More was better. This is the reason that there were a couple of
years of Lincolns that used neon lamps for their rapid rise time before HI
LEDs became common and cheap. It's also the reason I'm looking at
different techniques of putting LEDs on my once-rearended Greenbrier.
