If you have the serial number, then you can do a country wide motor vehicle search if you know a friendly police officer.  I would offer to do it, but I have used up my local favors for tracking down information on my 1978 Cadillac ambulance.  Paul

  This van was recently owned by Jon Peters of California and is in my
  registry. Jon sold it and somehow lost the new owner's info. Arrgh. Can
