[FC] Back Up Lights for an FC

Why does this work on a VW and not a  Corvair?

    Because the coil power goes through a resistor wire  and when you  add 
the lights in the circuit there is not enough power left  to run the coil.
    Why not hook it up like it should be and go to the  + side of where the 
coil is hooked into the harness (not the coil) and  there should be enough 
power to run the engine and the lights.
