I was in an antique (junk) store today, and they had a lot of old copies
of Motor Trend. I looked through the 1961 buyers guide issue on the off hand
that there would be mention of either my Greenbrier or rampside. There was a
several page article on spyder car, and a concept 4x4 powered with a Corvair
engine (it looked modern enough to be a current concept 4x4), and a two page
article describing the rampside. The article praised the ramp as "the first true
innovation in pickups in the last twenty years". They gave it so-so marks on the
interior and the instrumentation, and praised its nearly one ton load
capacity. There was also a picture, so I can attest that the original paint scheme of
the bed is as follows: bed floor, top and side of wheel wells/battery cover,
inside of tailgate and ramp are dark grey; inside walls of bed and back of cab
are main body color.
I never asked the price of the magazine, now I'm tempted to have it. They
had a few copies of the same issue, and about a hundred other issues from the
sixties. If anyone's interested, I can see if there's an article about your
particular year/model truck. I can't imagine that they would ask more than $20
an issue, probably more like $5-10.
