put the key into the ignition switch and turn fully to the left. Then insert
the end of a paper clip into the small circular dot on the switch face and
push in the release button. Continue to turn the key to the left and the
cylinder will pop out. Then unscrew the bezel and drop the ignition switch
out of the dash. Unplug the wires and plug in the new switch. Reinsert into
the dash and install the bezel. Then just insert the key cylinder and turn to
the right. Job done.... while you have the key cylinder out, look for a key
number stamped into the side of it. If it is the original cylinder, it will
still be there. If a replacement cylinder, there is no such number stamped
into it..... Paul in CT...

Subject: [FC] ignition switch
Hey gang-
I have a situation and have since convention of the Greenbrier not always
starting on the first turn of the key. Sometimes it takes four turns
before
the engine roars to life. I had the same situation a few years ago, then
it
kind of went away. Anyway, Jeff at Corvair Ranch gave me a spare ignition
switch to carry with me all those years ago. Are these switches easy to
replace? I think that will solve the problem. I want to get it before it
leaves me sitting somewhere.
Thanks for any advice.
Ben
PS-does anyone have Ron Stern's e-mail address? He lives in New Holland,
PA.
