i drilled that hole in a car motor for the fc dipstick tube with a 1 inch
hole saw.(just did another one this week)
that cover would be perfect for loadside. as you can see it swings up 2 ways.
the big way is measured to just set back over the other half so it travels
fine open. i glued felt on the wood to keep from banging up the edge. yes i
drilled two holes on each side to hold the frame on. they would be easy to fill if
needed. i have had this setup since 1987 and cant find fault with it. the
cover unsnaps from the wood also if needed but i never have needed .another
secret is to sew pockets in the cover to keep it from wearing on the bows. the
first canvas only lasted about 10,000 miles because of wear against the bows.
once you make the frame(mine is 2x6 pressure treated routed edges and sanded
smooth, stained with oil stain) any decent boat canvas shop can make you a nice
cover. im sure i can make a few slight mods to design , but why mess with it, it
looks good and works fantastic. i masy put a power unit oon it thjis winter
so rear is power lifted(and power locked) can eassily be radio remote
controlled also. i am dreaming up so many options for thjis vehicle! but i do drive it
a lot and enjoy it so it shows wear. it will never be serious show truck but
it draws a lot of attention where ever i go. modern truck guys here are
showing up at canvas shop not after seeing my ideas. regards tim colson ...back
to dreaming up ideas....
