[FC] Two Cents

The reason the Corvair is not revered in my opinion is multi faceted......
they leak oil unless the engine has been resealed with vitons..... they are
not easy to work on when you are used to conventional engines..... the heaters
usually smell of old oil from the old leaks and you have to remove the engine
to remedy this........ the rear engine is a different feel for a lot of
drivers that don't know how to adapt their driving skills to something
new...... the styling of the earlies is only equal to that of a bath tub in
some peoples mind...... the late model competes with other compact cars in the
year of manufacture bracket such as Camaro, Firebird, Chevelle, Buick Skylark,
etc., which are easier to repair with limited knowledge...... parts
availability is limited to a few vendors and most of the parts don't cross
over to any other marquee. The age group of people that owned them when they
were sold as new cars are aging and new collectors don't consider them
collectable.... This is only a few of the reasons........ I am sure that you
can add to the list also...... Paul

Paul,
I'll make Yugo parts if the volume makes it somehow feasible.
I have been producing Corvair parts for many years in very low volume.
Send me +25 Boomerang cores and I'll make a test run.
I still need CHEAP torque convertor cores to produce some High Stall units.
Freight is my normal problem - Rust Belt is too far away.
FC Parts Sales at The Source are almost the same volume as Early
but do not amount to 25% of Sales, +75% are Late
FC are better than 1960 Parts ! VBG
I see lots of Corvair parts being sold on E Bay at higher prices than
our everyday.
When we have time we will test the waters of E Bay ; get rid of lots of
dusty stock.
Our web site and electronic catalog are much more important - hopefully
some progress this year.
The Corvair vehicles are still depressed compared to other similar
vintages.
It has always been this way ! We could probably start a large flame war
as to why ...
