Subject: U.S. Route 6 Cruise Weekend to Provincetown

What a glorious weekend for a cruise to Provincetown and our first attempt was a wonderful success with an estimate of 200 vehicles making it to the final destination Rally Point at the National Seashore Province Lands Visitor Center at Race Point in Provincetown hosted by Bob Bramwell (Cuz’s Car Club) who also performed D.J. duties. It was such great weather on Saturday afternoon that many Route 6 Tourians preferred to set up their folding chairs and relax to enjoy the views and camaraderie for a while before heading off into PTown, their hotels or a one day round trip back home. If this is any indication of the response for a first time event, we should expect next year’s U.S. Route 6 Provincetown cruise weekend will be more successful as the word spreads. There is just too much to see and do along the Old King’s Highway, Route 6A, and in PTown to keep us wanting to come back again, year after year.  The only glitch was the double booking of the
Buzzards Bay RR Bridge Park Rally Point by the Chamber of Commerce resulting in the Factory Five Racing big rig being turned away as well as being closed for public parking and our planned Rally Point coffee break & pit stop. One of our Mass Cruisers members, Bob Wood, was on hand to help redirect any of the cars that showed up expecting the Rally Point to be open to us. The West Barnstable RR Station Rally Point where Jeff Clark (Cape Cod Classics Car Club) was set up and the Centerville Cape Cod Chamber Visitor Center Rally Point off Rte. 6 & Rte. 132  where John Remedis (Downshifters Car Club) and Patti Lloyd were set up, saved our butts for a half-way rest stops.  Everyone was very pleased with the results and all seemed enthusiastic about making this annual event bigger and better next year now that we’ve experienced our freshman attempt.

For those of you that attended the cruise weekend, thanks for your participation. And for those of you that planned to cruise with us but were fooled by the weather forecasters’ gloomy weekend predictions, we’ll do it again next October.

About this video
"The inaugural U.S. Route 6 Providence to Provincetown Cruise Weekend on October 6 & 7 had exceptionally nice autumn weather despite many weather forecasters predicting gloom. Although that may have prevented some from chancing a 118 mile cruise to PTown, over 200 did show up at the Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown to claim their commemorative dash plaques provided courtesy of Factory Five Racing as well as a signed farmable certificate of participation from Bob Bramwell who was manning the PTown Rally Point with his wife Linda assisted by Ron Churchill. Massachusetts U.S. Route 6 Executive Director Don Doucette was blown away by the response for this first time cruise event which is attempting to place this beautiful stretch of highway on every auto enthusiast’s annual event calendar. Author Joe Hurley, who walked the entire length of Route 6 from Provincetown to Long Beach California and his wife Pat also made the cruise together, a
first for them also, autographed copies of his newly released book, “10 Million Steps on Route 6”. There was one glitch with the Buzzards Bay RR Station Rally Point having to be scratched at the last minute due to a double booking issue, but Jeff Clark's West Barnstable RR Station Rally Point and the John Remedis & Patti Lloyd Centerville Visitor Center Rally Point coverage saved the day for us. If you missed this year’s cruise, it will happen again next year on the first weekend in October. And remember, “You’ll Get Twice the Kicks on Route 6”."
