BSCC- Junkyards (non-Corvair)

Hi everyone,
My 1993 Saturn has a rusted right rear door sill (plastic bodied cars,
but there are two places that they rust out, and this is one of them --
see attached photo). I plan to go to a salvage yard (LKQ/ABC Used Auto
Parts in Leominster) where they have several possible donor cars.
I have a Sawzall that would do the trick, but it is not cordless. I can
rent a portable generator locally in Boston for $50/day. I can rent one
in Leominster for about $75/day, which is more expensive, but allows me
to go to the junkyard and see if any of the parts are worthwhile and
accessible before spending the money. Nobody seems to rent cordless
Sawzalls.
I called back LKQ and asked if they would cut the part off for a fee and
was told "yes." However, when I asked for a price range for doing such a
thing, I was given a number in the $350 range (rather than the $20 range
like I was expecting based on conversations with others).
Am I looking at doing this the right way? How do you all go to cut parts
off of cars in junkyards (if you do)? Are there cheaper places to rent
generators, or other portable cutting tools? I'm currently unemployed so
would like to spend as little as possible to do the job.
Thanks!
Karl
