Quickest and easiest way to do this is to buy a 12 pack of beer and invite 3 friends over for an "engine-lifting party"!
Thats only 75 lbs and 36 oz each...

Hi BSCC-ers,
I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.....
Does anyone have a shop crane or some type of device that will fit
through a basement door (an average-sized people-door) that can be used
to hoist a 300 lb Corvair engine up onto a work bench? I can buy one,
but I am already spending a lot on tools and have yet to begin spending
money on parts and I wish to keep my marriage intact; plus, I would then
need to find space in my basement to store it.
I've considered building myself a temporary wooden gantry and using a
block and tackle, which is probably what I'll do if nobody has a crane I
can borrow. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)
Thanks!
Karl
