Hi Folks;
I received this note from a former long time BSCC member, Jerry Sachs. He goes on to say.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Ray,
Hope all is going well. We need to get out and catch up on things soon. Unfortunately, I am forced to sell my fathers cars and I was wondering if you could ask around and spread the word for me. These cars have to go to pay for my Dad's care. As of now my mother is $58,500 in debt to the nursing home.
He has the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) 2000 Lincoln Town Car " Executive Edition" Car has only 50K on it and is in great shape. It is white with alloy wheels and very comfortable Ivory leather interior including all the interior pluses like wood, trip computer etc that come with the Executive Model. I would say The car is in excellent condition. It has Ford's "Bullet Proof" 4.6L ( Mustang Engine) that is good for about 250K if cared for and delivers very respectable gas mileage. I think he gets 14/15 plus in the city and about 20 plus on the road.
Will be able to tell you more exacting about the mileage once I get the car up here next week.
This is the same model of car many companies use for "Livery vehicles" because of long life, economy and comfort.
My Dad was a "stickler" about maintenance on his cars and if I was not around to do the work, it was always dealer maintained.
NADA--Clean Retail 10K , High Retail $11.2K I am willing to sell the car for $7,900. ( prices based on 50,000 miles)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) 1980 Mercedes 450SL ( 4.5 Litre V-8 )-- This car is loaded. It is white with buckskin leather and has both hard and soft tops. The interior is in good condition. This car turns heads. This is a turn-key car and needs nothing. My dad bought this car from the second owner who was a Jaguar Mechanic who also built / restored Vintage Racing Cars. ( This car was his wife's ride ) They bought the car from the Original Owner in 1992 with 87K , and sold it to my father in 2001 with 135K. Car has always been garaged and serviced by MB and the Jaguar mechanic mentioned above. My father had the entire car gone through as soon as he purchased it. He also had the alloy wheels stripped ,and repainted so they are "as new" Last year he had an original Mercedes top installed to the tune of $2,000. Car runs great and is what I would call a 10 foot car. ( Perfect at 10 feet) Paint is good but is not show quality close up. He showed this car at the Endicot Car Show several times.
Car is rust free and has 140K original mileage. My dad only put 4K on it. ( As you know, without records like we have you can't trust the speedometer anyway) In short this car had an easy life and averaged about 5K miles per year.
NADA Collector Car Value-- Average Retail $19,500 (Their rating for Good overall condition and appearance of "a 20 foot car) I am willing to sell the car for $16K or possibly a bit lower if I have to.
Please give me a call about this when you get a chance.
Thanks for your help. Anything you can do by just passing the word would be appreciated. Ray, I think you and some of the other guys in the club have seen his Benz at the Endicot Show. I will have some pictures next week.

I replied to Jerry and got this response....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ray,
My dad had a massive stroke on 6/7/08 and there has been zero recovery. Over 60% of his body is paralyzed including his throat so you know what that means. We have all been doing our best since then. Anyway, we have been traveling down to see him and help my mother every two weeks since, so we will be away this weekend. Anything you can do to help raise cash by spreading the word about these well maintained cars would be appreciated. I know it is not a Corvair but if you could hand out my e-mail to some club members, it would be appreciated. The Lincoln would be a great deal for anyone, as would the Benz if anyone wants something like this. Thanks for your kind words and offer to help.
All the best to you and family, Jerry Sachs
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know many of you have met Jerry's Dad as he was a regular each July at the big Car Show at the Endicott Estate.
Our thoughts are with Jerry and Libby at this time as it doesn't sound like his Dad's health will return.
So... If either of these vehicles is of interest to any of you, please send an e-mail to Jerry Sachs directly at jsachs at guaranteedpower.com
Thank you, Ray B.
