BSCC- Sad news: John Clary died

We just learned of the death of John Clary, a member
of Colonial Corvair. John drove a beautiful red 1965
Monza convertible and was a proud and enthusiastic car
owner who loved to show off his Corvair at general car
shows; he was a great ambassador of our make to the
rest of the hobby.

Here's the notice that appeared in the Globe:

John H. Clary U.S. Air Force Veteran; 75 LEXINGTON
John H. Clary, 75, of Lexington MA, passed away on
Saturday evening, January 5, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic
in Burlington, MA after a lengthy battle with lung
cancer. He was born, July 25, 1933 in Boston and was
the son of the late James and Pauline (Devlin) Clary.
Mr. Clary served in the United States Air Force from
1950 to 1953 and the United States Army from 1954 to
1959. He was a tireless advocate for veterans and had
one of the largest amounts of volunteer hours of any
volunteer serving the Bedford VA. During the past 18
years, he logged over 22,000 hours. In addition to
volunteering, he had a passion for antique cars and
enjoyed attending car shows. Mr. Clary was survived by
his beloved friend, Rita Yegian, of Lexington whom he
spent the last eight years with enjoying life; a
daughter and son-in-law, Jeffrey and Deanne Howard;
three grandsons, Matthew, Brett and Garrett; and his
dear friends at the Bedford VA. CLARY of Lexington,
John H., age 75, died Jan. 5, 2008. Visiting hours
will be held Thursday, January 10th from 9 AM to 10:30
AM at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road,
Lexington, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM
at St. Brigid Church, 2001 Massachusetts Avenue,
Lexington, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made payable to the Veterans Affairs Hospital
and sent directly to Bedford Veterans Affairs, Attn:
Directors Office, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
Private interment will be at Massachusetts National
Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
