BSCC- Tires

Hi Fred-

I am running P175 80R 13" on my 66 with a whitewall close to what you are looking for.  They are Bridgestone's and I paid $50.00 for the set of four, brand new from Firestone.  I recommend calling around to local tire shops as many have discontinued brands they sell to clear them out as not many people want 13" tires these days.  

I am against changing to 14" or larger as the Corvair was designed to have a 13" tire for a reason.  Now many will disagree with me, and that's fine, but the handling and steering may be adversely affected by changing wheel size.   The offset is critical to proper suspension geometry and when you start playing around with wheels, you can have a car that handles odd.  I have driver many Corvairs with 14" wheels......that's why mine runs 13"s.   Just my two cents.........and good luck tire hunting!

  I am a new member and recently purchased a restored 1965 Corsa convertible.   It came with 175/80R13s  in fair shape...   I want to upgrade to 185/80R13s for a better fit and less speedometer error...

      Anyway...What is everybody doing for tires these days?   The tires I am finding have only 1/2" whitewalls, and I wanted to have them closer to the 15/16ths that came originally...   Any information would be helpful.
