Sounds like your flooding. Next time try tapping on the inlet section of
the carbs with a hammer or the like.

Hey everybody,  I tried again to drive my Corvair to work but it got
about 10 miles from home and started missing, and really bogging down at
low speeds...if I got to about 30mph it seemed to smooth out but I almost
stalled at every lite. It's the same situation I was dealing with BEFORE
I rebuilt the carbs, changed the vacuum modulator, messed with the
distributor....Man. A wise man once told me "Owning an antique car is
like a roller coaster ride...sometimes the rusty bolt comes loose,
sometimes a wire breaks and you have to pull out the engine."  Guess who
that was! You know how when Charlie Brown got frustrated, he had just a
big scribble in the "thought bubble"? That's what I have!
