Hey everybody..after chasing a million small situations that caused my car
to idle in N way higher than in D, I finally tamed the beast and got the
idle speeds normal!!! I even test drove it a few miles on Sunday but it's
COLD when you have no windows!!!
It ended up being a little bit of the following I think:
Distributor not exactly built up to match camshaft
Carbs not balanced or synchronized 100%
Mixture screws had wrong springs in them, causing a "false seat"
Some small vacuum leaks, I'm sure
Bad vacuum modulator, sucking in fluid
Operator inexperience
Lack of free time to diagnose/work on car!!!
If it's nice enough next Wednesday I'll drive it to the meeting.
See you soon!
