Well, I'm glad to see the "list" is very active....It looks like Gary B has
contacted the fellow in W.Roxbury directly. I hope we can all find a few
goodies!

Anyway, After a few months Steve B and I got some wrenches turning this
weekend. It had been a while since we "worked" together, but it was like old
times. My car had been stranded at my friend's house after an attempt to
drive it to work. My article in the newsletter, with the pic of sandy engine
bay, said we thought it was the carbs gunked up and preventing it from
idling at all in Drive.

I took the carbs apart (totally clean!) and rebuilt them (not hard at all if
you stare at the manual for long enough!), but there were 2 things. I think
I had an accelerator pump bracket on backwards (I'm gonna check the manual
again, maybe it was an errouneous illustration!) so it wouldn't shoot the
"squirts" thru the little upper holes. Those holes are so small, I didn't
even know they were there!!

So, add another rebuild, the SNOW and rain and some travel time, and we
didn't get too far. BUT, I know the carbs are right this time, I covered
all the vacuum leaks, and now we can fool with the distributor and timing.
It turns out since it's an 84hp block with 102hp heads...I had the
distributor built up for a 102. They actually had different camshafts, and
Yes, that affects the timing (DER!!)

So, we may not see the nice windowless, primer grey beauty this year, but at
least it will have a proper home! See the pic.

Happy Halloween everybody.
